| U2 at Nashville's Vanderbilt Stadium U2 performed Saturday July 2nd, 2011 to a sold out crowd of more than 45,000 people at Dudley Field/ Vanderbilt Stadium. This was U2's second Nashville concert. The first was at Underwood Auditorium December 2nd, 1981. U2 played a 2 and 1/2 hour set which featured (for the first time ever in concert) their song "The Wanderer." Johnny Cash sings on their 1993 album "Zooropa." Bono did his best Cash baritone vocal in a tribute to the legend. Other songs included "I Will Follow" "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" "Sunday Bloody Sunday" "One" and "The Streets Have No Name." During the show a mention was made of cowboy Jack Clement, who produced several tracks on the bands 1988 "With or Without You"... Well it was right on target. Knowing before the concert that there would be damage done to the football field; Vandy officials and U2 signed a contract together to have the field re-sodded. The cost is compliments of U2, a gargantuan concert souvenir from these extraordiary people and musicians Text courtesy of Carol Alger from various news sources |
