down-home Americana music in the country.  A native of Laurel, MD, Tony's wide
range of influences include artists such as John Fogerty, John Prine, Lowell
George, Graham Parker & Bruce Spingsteen.
Tony recently released his third CD Already Gone (2009). It immediately charted
at #2 on the Euro Americana Charts and at #7 on the Freeform American Roots
Chart.  Already Gone is a collection of 11 distinctive tunes that explore the entire
spectrum of Americana music. This CD is full of cutting lyrical wit, breathtakingly
personal storytelling and foot stomping backbeats. There are stories here that
everyone can relate to about love, working class attitudes, hope, regret,
forgotten patriots and unwitting heroes.  Fans of roots guitar and fine
musicianship will appreciate the world class cast of players, including:
drummer Timm Beiry (Nils Lofgren, Danny Gatton); bassists Dave Roe
(Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam) and Dave Jacques (John Prine, Emmylou Harris);
keyboardist Phil Madeira (Emmylou Harris); and, guitarists Gantt Kushner
and Warner E. Hodges (Jason and the Scorchers).
You can catch Tony performing his songs at venues and festivals from New York to the Carolinas – including venues such as
Rams Head on Stage ,the Maryland Seafood Festival, Columbia Festival of the Arts, the Vintage Virginia Wine Festival and
many others.  He performs solo or with a band - always presenting to the listening world a writing style and performance
uniquely his own.  His songs will stay with you long after the lights fade to black....

There are only a handful of you guys playing Texas-style music that is really exceptional (Hayes Carll is another favorite
coming to mind)”.

“Just had to tell ya’ that we love ‘Broken Down Cowboys’ - we'll feature the album on our home page from 26 December, 2009”.
-- Tom Fahey, www.americanaok.com

Ah well, how to explain a doocot darlin'?! All my CDs are mailed into the studio and we have little wooden mail pigeonholes,
The Scots for a pigeon is a "doo" and a pigeon-house is a "doocot" (dovecote in English). Every show, I play one of the artists
twice because I enjoy their music so much and I call that my "doocot darling". You don't have to be gorgeous to get there -
just play great music!”
--Jo Cowan, Nevis Radio, Scotland

“The CD is in the car stereo for two weeks now, so yes, I have had the chance to spin it and spin it over and over again! Must
be one of the most played CDs of the year.... Man, I love it. You'll see it appear on next month’s issue of the EuroAmericana
Charts, sure thing”!
--Dani Heyvaert, RootsTown Music Magazine, Belgium

“I emailed you to tell you that I have played the hell out of (Already Gone) it’s one of my favorites of 2009 - love the sound, the
voice, the lyrics and the great band…”
--Big Al Watts, PBS 108.7 FM, Melbourne, Australia

“In the songs on his new album Already Gone, Tony Denikos blends all the musical influences absorbed during his long
career. Things that happen in everyday's life are casted in heartfelt lyrics and put on John Fogerty & Creedence-styled swamp
rock, or in lovely ballads which is reminiscence of John Prine. This album is a highly professional work of love by a gifted
songsmith and great performer."
-- Valére Samperman, www.Rootstime.be , Belgium

“The Americana sound on American singer-songwriter, Tony Denikos’, recent album, Already Gone, is the result of a unique
blend of influences from throughout his music career. His favorite musicians are Lowell George, John Prine, Richard
Thompson, Graham Parker, Bruce Springsteen and John Fogerty (the founder of CCR). You can clearly hear these influences
come through in his music. Tony Denikos – who has also recorded as Tony De – frequently performs with his band at festivals,
coffee houses and local clubs in the Washington and Baltimore area. His debut album, Naked & Smiling, dates from 2000.  In
2003, he released a second album, Time Tells Tales, and was featured in a compilation album titled, Don‘t Mind Me. It took
another 6 years before a new CD was released.

The twelve tracks on his newly-released album were all composed by Tony Denikos and are about what everyone experiences
in daily life, both in love and in the workplace.  ‘Big Easy Down’, the first song on Already Gone, is a swamp rock number in the
mold of Fogerty with a thumping rhythmic electric guitar. We also hear Fogerty's country rock and blues influence in: ‘Ug &
Goola’, ‘River Don’t Rise’, ‘Auction Block’, ‘Laurelite’ (particularly reminiscent of Creedence Clearwater Revival) and ‘Nobody
Loves Her’.
‘Norfolk Town’ is a beautiful ballad which features the lovely accordion playing of Phil Madeira (Emmylou Harris Band). This is a
song that is reminiscent of John Prine. There’s a similar feel to the title track ‘Already Gone’ in which the main instrumentation
comes from the Jen Smith’s cello playing, supported by Tony Denikos himself on harmonica. His ballads are his strength as
shown in ‘Broken Down Cowboys’, a song that would make Dwight Yoakam proud, with backing vocalist Jen Smith.  Another
solid ballad is ‘Love's Impossible’ which has the potential to be a hit from the start. The song probably played most frequently
at this time of year, ‘Home for Christmas’, offers an alternative to the many threadbare, traditional Christmas tunes. It’s a
beautiful song.
The quality of the tracks on this album shows that Tony Denikos is a gifted songsmith who is of the caliber to work with other
talented musicians and vocalists.  Every song on Already Gone has a catchy hook that sticks in your memory from the very
first listen.  The album includes a bonus track, a version of ‘Laurelite’ featuring Warner E. Hodges (Jason & The Scorchers
guitarist) at his best.

Already Gone by Tony Denikos is an entertaining and beautiful offering for everyone and a pleasant way to spend an hour.
Don’t worry ... be happy and let the good times rock'n'roll”.
--Freddy Celis, www.rootstime.be, Belgium

“Singer-songwriter Tony Denikos was born and raised in Baltimore.  He has focused on writing radio-friendly country, rock and
Americana.  His songs are clearly influenced by John Fogerty, Lowell George, John Prine and Paul Simon.  For his third CD,
Already Gone, Tony was accompanied by a number of renowned musicians such as Dave Roe (bass guitar), Dave Jacques
(bass guitar), Phil Madeira (keyboard), Gantt Kushner (guitar) and Timm Beiry (drummer).  The new disk of twelve of his own
compositions consists of an extensive mix of folk, Americana and blues.  The song themes address the daily experiences of
Denikos.  ‘Norfolk Town’, ‘Ug & Googla’, ‘Auction Block’ and, the tearjerker, ‘Broken Down Cowboys’, are beautiful songs, and
include a lovely upbeat.  The songs really showcase Denikos as an Americana singer-songwriter.  These numbers show clear
similarities with the work of Paul Simon, Lowell George and J. D.  Souther. Denikos is passionate and provocative in the
acoustic song ‘Already Gone’.  ‘Nobody Loves Her’ and ‘Laurelite’ are delicious, fat blues numbers with guitar reminiscent of
John Fogerty.  As a bonus track, the final song is a reprise of ‘Laurelite’.  Tony gets the help of guitarist Warner E. Hodges of
the legendary Tennessee band Jason & the Scorchers, who lets us enjoy his razor-sharp game.  Denikos is at his best in
melodious numbers that radiate emotions and feelings.  If this is your first introduction to Tony Denikos, he certainly delivers
an engaging calling card with Already Gone.
--Johan Schoenmakers, www.altcountryforum.nl  , The Netherlands

“Let the new year get off to a good start! Tony Denikos has delivered a wonderful CD with Already Gone.  You can't get bored
while you're listening to this album because it covers such a variety of music genres. Tony moves easily from Americana to
rock, or folk to blues. His versatility really comes to the forefront on this album. Accompanied by an excellent band, he delivers
a stunning new album. It's his 3rd: Time Tells Tales and Naked & Smiling are Tony's other two discs. While listening to Already
Gone, you’ll get a sense of melancholy one minute, but then the very next song will invite you to jump up and move!  Must be
one of the most played CDs of the year.... Man, I love it. You'll see it appear on next month’s issue of the EuroAmericana
Charts, sure thing”!
--Dani Heyvaert, RootsTown Music Magazine, Belgium

“It's with great pleasure that I received your brand new CD Already Gone.  I wanna thank you deeply for the consideration and
for the great music shared!  I enjoyed very much your songs that I found extremely appealing and powerful.  I'll give plenty of
airplay to your music here through my radio show…”
--Remo Ricaldone,  “Happy Trails” Susa Onda Radio, Italy

"Tony Denikos' songwriting is filled with emotion and romanticism, moving from social commentary to small portraits of
American life. In a word, he seems to come from an old school of folksinger, like his mentor John Prine, but he’s also quite
eclectic to embrace different styles of roots rock music, and not to close himself into a ghetto. Already Gone is a good example
of modern Americana and songwriting of noble birth."
--Fabio Cerbone - www.rootshighway.it, Italy

“I emailed you to tell you that I have played the hell out of (Already Gone) it’s one of my favorites of 2009 - love the sound, the
voice, the lyrics and the great band…”

“It is cold here and the snow is not far from here but believe me your music warmed my heart ....when your radio show is called
"American Roots Music " getting such a CD is really perfect for the Frenchie ....it really made my day...there is everything you
expect to find in your music and above all such a good spirit...so thanks for the depths of my heart for this good moment...your
voice, like John Fogerty's, immediately catches the listener and you kill him with your catching melodies and such good songs...
my English is too poor to precisely tell you what is my mind but I guess you can feel the sincerity of my reaction ...music really
needs artists like you ...”
--Mike Penard, Radio ISA, France

“…I do not know whether I am a representative of Tony Denikos’ audience, but I definitely know his music is charming. In
general, (his style is similar to) Hayes Carll; the structure of the songs, the smooth sounding riffs and lines; even the cowboy
nasal intonation – twang…. The work is animated and pretty varied in terms of entertainment with songs (such) as ‘Ug &
Goola’, and the lustily performed honky tonk song ‘Nobody Loves Her’.  Yet it is the thoughtful ballad title song ‘Already Gone’
with which this American steals my heart.  Beautiful lyrics complemented by subtle cello and harmonica - very special”.

Big Easy Down

Written by: Tony Denikos

Well I'm sitting on the Bayou with a broken heart.
I can't believe just what I found
oh, the way they only watched us as those levees broke apart
and the way they let Big Easy Down.
Well there was people climbing, clambering, couches
up upon they roofs
while the water swelled up all around.
You think your Gov'ment loves you buddy, there's your proof.
Oh the way they let Big Easy Down.
We're all alone boys but we're not afraid.
We know they can't keep us down.
By grace alone are lowly sinners saved.
We might be lost but we'll be found.
And those slimy politicians with their big fat mouths stumbled 'cross the stage like drunken clowns.
We'll chase them tarred and feathered from the sweet dark south
for the way they let Big Easy Down.
We're all alone, little girl, but we're not afraid
We know they can't keep us down.
By grace alone are lowly sinners saved.
We might be lost but we'll be found.
Still they wag their crooked fingers,
spit'n oaths out they can't keep
while people scrape their lives up off the ground.
Woe, a great a mighty nation hang your head and weep for the way you let Big Easy Down.
A Review by Gary Allen
you hear very clearly, that Tony Denikos counts John Fogerty, Lowell George and John Prine as his influences, however it
doesn’t bother (the listener) whatsoever.  Like a sponge, he absorbs all the influences and then wrings out something entirely
his own. As an example, he doesn’t spare the rod in ‘Big Easy Down’, a funky New Orleans swamp-rock number where he
focuses his sharp criticism on the politicians of his homeland concerning the debacle of their handling of Katrina that so “This
is damn pain free! (Already Gone) contains delicious variety not subject to any textual or musical restrictions. …at times you

As an example, he doesn’t spare the rod in ‘Big Easy Down’, a funky New Orleans swamp-rock number where he focuses his
sharp criticism on the politicians of his homeland concerning the debacle of their handling of Katrina that so ruthlessly hit the
Big Easy.  Then there is the playfully charming folk tune ‘Norfolk Town’ reminiscent of Prine… excellent lyrics! ‘Ug & Goola’ is a
nice rootspop song, ‘River Don’t Rise’ is a hell of a roots rocker and ‘Already Gone’ a nice piece of social criticism made flesh
and blood. It’s rare that closing a factory is described so aptly and musically articulate. You definitely don’t have to work at
Opel to understand what Denikos wants you to feel  here. Other highlights? Harsh words for his homeland in ‘Auction Block’,
where "For Sale" rhymes nicely with "For shame!", and the United States will be auctioned to the highest bidder; the best of
John Fogerty and CCR is recalled in the country rock song ‘Laurelite’; and, the truly heartbreaking, beautiful Americana ballad
‘Broken Down Cowboys’. As previously suggested, damn pain free! Denikos debuting so high on the Euro Americana Chart
(#2) in January is absolutely no surprise! Hearing is believing”!
--Benny Metten, www.ctrlaltcountry.be, Belgium

Tony Denikos siad I was a cruel man for taking my time with this review. It's his own fault that everytime I put on his latest CD
"Already Gone" I forgot I am working and went into fan mode. His Sonicbids intro describes Tony as CCR meets John Prine.
They hit that nail on the head. John Fogerty said he never saw a bayou when he wrote those singles. I bet Tony has seen a
Mardi Gras and a big pot of gumbo. Next time I sit beside Prine at Arnold's Meat & Three, I am going to hip him to the fact that I
know who is going to fill his shoes when he retires. He no doubt would say,"Retire from what? Playing golf and music?" I get it.

Tony Denikos is a performing songwriter and guitarist that makes me understand more what Americana is than I thought I knew
before. His latest CD debuted on the EuroAmericana chart at #2 in January 2010 and #8 on the Freeform American Roots
chart in the same month. "Already Gone" has a lot of the elements of my friend Richie Hayward's band, Little Feat and that's
impressive. They were the only concert band I ever saw give up a top spot on the bill to allow Marshall Tucker, and my band,
The Charlie Daniels Band to play side by side as to not break up the southern rock with their infectious grooves and
unexpected syncopations.

Tony hails from Maryland and is most likely in Baltimore somewhere as I type. As I listen to the cajun style "Big Easy Down" I
realize the last time I heard something that funky and bayou style was when Tony Joe White sat in with JJ Cale at the Belcourt
Theater in Nashville. We did "Polk Salad Annie" and it was dripping with creole and greasy Dixie Chicken, pun intended.
Another personal favorite is "Laurelite" with special guest, my friend Warner Hodges from Jason & The Nashville Scorchers.
They dropped the Nashville when they went to Europe, with EMI and started hanging with The Rolling Stones.

I have to pay homage to Tony's choice of a drummer for this CD. Timm Biery is the baddest drummer on the planet - bar
none!" says Danny Gatton. That's good enough for me. Timm's trademark grooves are a fundamental element in  "Already
Gone" and "Time Tells Tales." Tony recorded nearly the entire rhythm section of Already Gone at The Barn, Timm's top shelf
studio just outside of Nashville.

Tony plays what I call good time music. Great rhythmic and spirited grooves. I can't say enough about the musicians and
prominent guests he has assembled. All great studio players and the perfect band for this collection of strong original tunes.
Sometime when the word funky is introduced in a review, commercial strength goes out the window. Not the case with "Already
Gone. " The unconventional creativity the players all bring to this CD is relaxing, imaginative and highlights the character of
Tony's great singing voice.

Tony Denikos has garnered so much praise and reviews that I wasn't left with hardly any adjectives for my own review. The
music is deep, thoughtful  and even sad with a masterful core that remains true and ties it all nicely together. There's a warmth
and natural soulfulness to this sound that is as much approachable as it is admirable. Heartfelt lyrics with diverse textures. And
exotic stew of rock and roll, soul tugging love songs to New Orleans style soul laced boogie. That's a lot of territory to cover
and it takes a harmonica to connect it all. I love harmonica and Tony plays it like he means it like Delbert McClinton, another
meat & three regular. Come to think of it when you come to town you should make a bee line for Arnold's. Not just for the green
beans and pie but for the company. You would fit right in! You can have Chet's old seat. He would love you to have it.

I love "Already Gone" and haven't taken it out of my player all week. Most likely I won't anytime soon. I may not know much, but
I know what I like. Tony will be featured all spring on the TennesseeConcerts homepage and in my April Music City Beat
newsletter. Tony has raised the bar in my song competition. I'm glad I didn't enter. I'll spend my ten dollars on harmonica
lessons!
