Debby Holiday's latest project, Joyful Sound (*Nebula 9 Records), resonates of 90’s divas and modern
sounds. Featured in this season’s hit LOGO show Sordid Lives: The Series, from writer/director/producer
Del Shores, Joyful Sound joins artists Olivia Newton John, Georgette Jones, Sean Wiggins and Kacey
Jones on the critically-acclaimed soundtrack. Holiday releases the dance remixes of the hit with mixes by
DJ Scotty K., Tracy Young, Wayne G & Porl Young, Hex Hector and Jake Benson on October 7th, 2008.
Joyful Sound will be available on CD single exclusively from PerfectBeat.com. and via Digital Delivery
exclusively from Masterbeat.com on October 14th, 2008. Joyful Sound (*Nebula 9 Records) will go wide in
all media and markets on October 28th, 2008.
Debby Holiday experienced every aspect of the music industry early on while growing up in Los Angeles,
Ca. Her father Jimmy Holiday was a passionate and soulful artist, topping the charts with several of his own
singles before going on to co-write such hits as Understanding by Ray Charles and Jackie DeShannon’s
Put A Little Love In Your Heart. Another standard All I Ever Need Is You, turned out to not only be a top 10
single for Sonny and Cher – but also went on to be a huge country hit for Kenny Rogers and Dottie West.
Naturally, this eclectic mix of music strongly influenced Debby’s own unique and compelling sound.
Inspired by the stage presence, individuality and never give up attitude of artists like David Bowie, Tina
Turner, Janis Joplin & Prince; at the age of 10 she began writing songs in her bedroom closet far away
from her father’s critical ear. By 20 she was fronting her own band and rocking out in clubs all over Los
Angeles.
Landing a deal with Giant/Warner Bros. gave Debby Holiday the opportunity to work with a wide range of
today’s top songwriters including Jeffrey Steele, Al Anderson, Marty Fredrickson, Billy Steinberg, Erik
Brazillian and Clif Magness (Avril Levigne).
Debby Holiday has shared the stage with legendary recording artists like John Waite and Rod Stewart,
appearing on several television programs including The View, The Rosie O’Donnel Show and The David
Letterman Show. During her career, Debby has toured and opened for rock superstars including Joe
Walsh, Rod Stewart and Kiss.
In 2004 rock/soul diva Debby Holiday completed her third independent LP Half A Mile Away (* Nebula 9).
Containing 12 tracks featuring a mix of rock, soul and pop, this LP also contains the original versions of
Dive and Half A Mile Away, Holiday’s songs that scored Top 5 and Top 7 on the Billboard Dance Club Play
chart in 2004-2005. Both tracks were released as maxi-singles with remixes by Chris Cox (Thunderpuss),
Scotty K. (The Ellen Degeneres Show), and Scott Anderson of Solar City (Erin Hamilton, Pepper Mashay).
Half A Mile Away LP contains songs written and produced by Debby Holiday, Bryan Corbett, Clif Magness,
Marty Frederiksen and Jeff Fedak. The LP and EP dance versions were executive produced by Debby
Holiday and Bryan Corbett (* Nebula 9) and Andrew Briskin (Tango Blues Entertainment).
The success of Dive and Half A Mile Away landed Debby Holiday’s indie label *Nebula 9 a U.S. distribution
deal through Master Entertainment (MASE). Beginning February of 2005 the LP Half A Mile Away and a
two-song EP with select dance remixes of Dive and Half A Mile Away were placed in Virgin Megastore,
Tower Records, Amoeba Records and independent music stores nationwide.
Debby Holiday broke onto the dance scene with her #5 Billboard summer anthem Dive in 2004. Holiday
followed the smash hit Dive with power ballad Half A Mile Away, which shot into the Billboard Top 10, along
with Debby's follow-up dance hit Bring It On. Holiday’s newly released dance single, titled Piece Of My Love
Debby Holiday's recent projects include singing the title track to Courteney Cox's FX Network television
series Dirt, a role in a national Sprint television commercial, and looping on the Golden Globe nominated
Paramount Pictures musical Dreamgirls starring Jamie Foxx, Byonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Jennifer
Hudson. Debby continues to pump up the volume on the dance floors, with her band doing live
performances, and on television, with the inclusion of Half A Mile Away (Solar City Remix) in the FX series
Dirt, and her latest release Piece Of My Love, to be heard on the upcoming season of Showtime’s hit The
L Word.
Congratulations, Debby! You rocked the competition and aren't hard on the eyes either. The lyrics are
fresh and your singing is way more mature than your years. You stopped the rest in their tracks! Get it?
