Reagan Boggs from Bristol, Tennessee
Reagan Boggs from Bristol, Tennessee
David Brewer of the High Country News wrote, "There’s something about good singer-songwriters’
abilities that make you believe they’ve lived their lyrics. The intimate details of their less-than perfect lives
wrapped in engaging melodies that help listeners feel they know the artists are a must. Simply put, if you
can’t believe them, then they aren’t doing their job. There is something about the unpretentious voice and
style of Reagan Boggs that comes through her tales of complicated relationships and memories both fond
and forlorn." She is a storyteller with a voice that can captivate a room.

In 2007, Reagan Boggs released her third solo album Right Now. The songwriter hails from a coal mining
community in Southwest Virginia. With roots still firmly planted in those hills, she tells the story of “Clifton
Branham,” Appalachian bad man via his own memoirs, and details a woman’s nightmare of strip-miners
disrupting the resting dead after a pressured sale of her family’s land in “The Graves.” She pours out her
heart through the eyes, ears, and fears of two young children living daily in an abusive home in “Ready to
Run;” and again through the reflections of a middle-aged wife who struggles to find happiness in a
comfortable, yet empty marriage in “Plastic Flowers.”  Right Now is a collection of songs dealing with the
light and darkness of everyday reality, composed in descriptive detail, and sung with the depth and
emotion that is Reagan Boggs.

Whether playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, or the fiddle, Reagan performs across the country sometimes as
a solo/acoustic act and also with her band. She recently was featured on Mountain Stage with Darrell
Scott, and has shared the stage with several other artists including Chris Knight, Slaid Cleaves, Scott
Miller, Pat Green, David Olney, and Last Train Home to name a few.

I wholeheartedly agree with David Brewer. You have to own it! Congratulations, you are the Band of The
Month and a fellow Tennessean.
Good songs, and you make them all believable and accesible. Musical maturity beyond your years
( more like my years :-)  < Do you really
have to use the last ) if the sentence ends with a smiley face? I digress. I like it. You are on track...
