By Pat Adams from Tennessee Concerts
We went to see Poco at the Nashville Drum Show on September 29, 2012. It always good to see Poco in concert. I first saw them in the early 1980's
at the old Tennessee Theater in Nashville on Church Street. The Tennessee Theater was an old movie theater that had been converted to a music
venue. Poco had just came out with Heart Of The Night & Crazy Love. It was Rusty Young, Paul Cotton and three musicians from England.
I really enjoyed that show in that very cool old theater. The theater was later torn down. My second time of seeing Poco was at the Belcourt Theater
in 2004 at a taping of their concert music DVD/CD "Keeping The Legend Alive". This show included Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Jack Sundrud, George
Grantham and special guest Ritchie Furay, an early member who played in the Buffalo Springfield and other bands. This was a very good produced
concert in a historic Nashville venue, also an old movie theater. I went on to buy the DVD when it was released and still play it from time to time.
My third time of seeing Poco was at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon. This time, I not only saw them in concert, but got to go backstage and meet the guys.
Band members included Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Jack Sundred and George Lawrence. Drummer George Grantham was also there after having
a stroke, although he wasn't able to play. Not only did I meet them, but I got my DVD autographed, as well as several pictures which still hang on my
wall. Poco's current drummer George Lawrence went on to sponsor many of our Sonicbids Tennessee Concerts Song Contests for several years.
The current lineup includes Rusty Young – pedal steel guitar, banjo, Dobro, guitar, mandolin, lap steel guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals -
Jack Sundrud – bass, acoustic guitar, vocals - George Lawrence – drums and percussion
and Michael Webb – keyboards, B3, electric guitar, accordion, mandolin, vocals.
