Boston Lead Singer Brad Delp Commits Suicide

Boston lead singer Brad Delp was found dead on March 8, in his New Hampshire home.
He was 55 years old.
An autopsy determined it was suicide by carbon monoxide.
One of the best sounding concerts I have ever been to, was Boston in 1986 at Starwood
Amphitheater in Nashville. The band came out and played their complete new album, which
was Third Stage at the time, beginning with the first song Amanda. After playing Third Stage,
the band played all the hits from the first two albums including the classic More Than A Feeling.

I also saw Brad Delp and Boston open up for Foghat at the Municipal Auditorium in 1976, at a
time when Boston was just becoming known. Foghat headlined the show.

Singer files $10 Million age discrimination suit against Opry
Owner Gaylord denies charges, cites older lineups
Grand Ole Opry singer Stonewall Jackson filed a $10 Million lawsuit Thursday against the long
running country music show and its management, claiming age discrimination, breach of
contract and retaliation. Jackson, 74, has been a member of the show since 1956. He had a
string of hits in the 1959's and '60's including the No. 1's "Waterloo" &
"B.J. The D.J."
Above article (portion) from the Tennessean Newspaper & A.P.
He recently (2006)told our reporter (and Nashville's Musicians Jam host) Gary Allen, who used to play drums
for Stonewall Jackson that he was having an issue with the Opry, regarding the booking of the older Grand Old
Opry members.
The Opry responded by saying the allegations are not true and that Stonewall Jackson is looking for publicity.

LINK OF THE MONTH:
Chip Curley's www.nashlinks.com
NashLinks has links to just about anything you want to know about Nashville, past & present
(including my website). Chip also has the best of the Nashville vintage websites including
"Nashville Memories", and a great website on past local Nashville bands, called "Nashville Rock
Combo's" . I remember Chip and his family as kid. His family lived next door to my
grandparents. When I started a website, I had an idea to use all my Nashville memorabilia and
create a vintage Nashville website. Chip had beat me to it, along with doing a much better job
than I could have ever done, so I settled on a
Nashville Concert Pictures Website.
Chip Curley's website's have been a big influence on me.

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST?
I have been named as "February Jam Artist Spotlight"
by the Play It Again Nashville Musicians Jam
and "Now Here This Productions"
           Those Guys
FEBRUARY JAM ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Pat Adams
Pat Adams of Tennessee Concerts, is not only the sponsor of the jam but has also just signed
a deal with Columbia. He only has to buy 6 more CD's in 3 years! Way to go Pat. Santana
asked Pat to play solo in his percussion section recently.
He meant, solo I can't hear it. I'm on a roll. A Kaiser. What do you call a tambourine player with
no girlfriend? HOMELESS. Tony Killer Beazley says, " Pat is so far behind, when we finish the
set he has to play one more song. With reviews like that it's no wonder Pat has a day job.
He recently recorded tambourine on Ken Utterback's Night People & Treat Her Right, (the Roy
Head classic). Neither has sued for damages. In Pat's words, " If at first you don't succeed, sell
shoes." Pat runs a ticket locaters service called How Should I Know Where They Are?
Disgruntled customers have started a website, I Haven't Seen A Show Since I Trusted
Tambourine Boy With My Tickets, INC. Also, on Amazon this week his new book called,
Anyone Know Where The Transmission Fluid Goes

RECENT EMAIL:
Dear Southern Tribute,
Two of my friends and fellow students and I are doing a history fair
project on Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Our names are Richie, Michael, and William (me) and we attend
James Weldon Johson Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida.  We are in the 8th grade and we
have searched for several hours only to find that you are the only website to have pictures of
Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash.  These pictures are very important to the grade
and success of our project and we wish to have your permission to use them
on our exhibit.  We will properly cite you in our bibliography and on our
project board.  We would appreciate an expeditious response so that we
may use the pictures before our project is due.  Thank you very much.
Sincerely, William, Michael, and Richie

Thank you Mr. Pat.  I'm sure the pictures will add a lot to our project. I'm also happy to tell you
that our teacher enjoyed our project so much that she is sending us to the school fair where we
will have the ability to present in front of judges and possibly move onto the regionals or state
fair.  Again thank you for your continuous support. -Will

STARWOOD AMPHITHEATER CLOSES
2007 CONCERTS CANCELLED - Starwood's parent company Live Nation confirmed on
Tuesday February 13, 2007 that Starwood Amphitheater had closed.
Chances are, it is being sold to a real estate developer and will no longer be used for
entertainment. The amphitheater opened in 1985, and has hosted seasonal events every year
since. I attended the Grand Opening of Starwood in 1985 and had a chance to roam around
backstage and on the stage itself. It doesn't seem that long ago. Others names of the venue
over the years are "First American Music Center" & "AmSouth" Amphitheater.
Many many concerts have taken place at Starwood over the years, and it will be missed.
I know, I have lots of good memories of Starwood, and saw many great concerts.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Morning Oldies Radio Show Air Personalities Coyote McCloud & Cathy Martindale The
Tennessean newspaper reports that Coyote McCloud and Cathy Martindale (from the oldies
stations) are currently under a six month no-compete agreement (with 97.1) and hopefully will
return to the airwaves once that is up.My website started after getting a chance to meet
Herman's Hermits singer Peter Noone backstage at the Tennessee State Fair in 2002, thanks
to the  (then) Oldies 96.3 radio station. I later posted the pictures on the internet. That was the
first page of my current website. www.tennessconcerts.com. A few years later Coyote McCloud
was nice enough to mention my website several times on the morning radio show, at a time
when I only had about a dozen pages, or so. Now, with a little help from my friends, we have
over 200 pages of concert pictures and still growing. Peter Noone is still performing the
Hermans Hermits songs from the 1960's. He later told me, he really enjoyed the Fair in
Nashville, and Nashville was a great audience.
