same, wouldn't you like gifts
that are special? Bonnie's
Creations is owned by our
friend, Bonnie Utterback.
Bonnie is Kenny
Utterback's wife (guitarist

What does Bonnie have?
Unique gifts for the house

delightful curiosity store,
you just never know what
you'll find. Graduations and
June weddings are coming
up. Save time, gas and

justmegan
What once started as a charming,
one-woman-band has evolved into a powerful
rock group producing music that spans genres
of rock, blues, and surf with a creative
psychadelic feel. Front-woman, Megan
Carlson's vocals have been compared to stellar
rock legends such as Pat Benatar, Joan Jett,
Christine McVie, and Chrissy Hynde. Aside from
performing original, catchy, and  unique tunes,
justmegan also takes a solid interest in societal
issues, contributing their music for good causes.
They have been featured on various compilation
albums benefiting such issues as cancer
research and drunk-driving awareness.
The band worked with Illumina records and
GroundControl.org. Their album, I GET WHAT
I WANT
is featured on over 100 AM/FM,
XM/Satellite, and Internet radio stations. Check

Check out my favorite MySpace singer and her band. Out of the hundreds
of artists I've checked out on MySpace, justmegan is one that stands out. Is it
that's she's good? Because she's hot? Or because she plays my kind of music.
Actually, it's all of it. Megan seems to love the oldies, just like my self. How
cool is that, considering many of these songs were before she was even born?
Her version of Blackbird is the best I've heard since The Beatles recorded it.
Besides the oldies, justmegan has many other really cool songs.  Pat Adams

J.J. Cale released his debut album, Naturally, in 1971. Born and raised
in Oklahoma, the singer wrote songs that became big hits for Eric Clapton,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Poco and others, including "Cocaine" and "After Midnight."
"He recorded ["After Midnight"], and [it came] out about six months later,"
Cale says. "And I heard it on the radio, and I went, 'Oh, boy, I'm a
songwriter now. I'm not an engineer or an elevator operator.' "
Those royalty checks keep coming in, so Cale doesn't have to tour or
record much. But he has a new album out now, titled Roll On.
"I was a late bloomer in the music business," Cale says. "When I made
[Naturally], I went, 'I'm way too old to be doing this. You know, 30 years old
is really old.' So ironically, I'm doing it now — this last album, I'm 70."
Cale spoke with host Melissa Block about writing original music at 70.
"I write songs that kind of pertain to where I'm at now, and I guess it's
good," Cale says. "I don't know, you know? I used to write more about sex,
drugs and rock 'n' roll. I don't do that quite as much as I used to, and it's
a little bit more 'old man' philosophy."
JJ Cale Announces First Tour Since 2004
JJ Cale will be hitting the road for the first time since 2004 in support of his
new album, Roll On, released February 24, 2009.  Rolling Stone says of
the new CD "he's a model for indie-rock longevity...his bubbling guitar - as
much a jam band archetype as Jerry Garcia's - glints across the shadows."
The tour will cover the West Coast, where JJ Cale will be playing solo,
choosing to play intimate venues in California, Oregon, Washington and
British Columbia.  A portion of the proceeds from each show will be
donated to local animal shelters and rescue efforts.  Please visit the tour
dates page for more information at
www.jjcale.com.

I was a writer for the Kaleidoscope Newspaper in the 1970's, covering
music and concert events. Unfortunately, most of my issues of the
Kaleidoscope were lost over the years. The Kaleidoscope was a
Nashville music newspaper that was distributed to high schools
throughout Nashville Tennessee, and passed out free to students.

Jam is Nashville rock & roll jam,
that started back in 2006, at a
recording studio near the
fairgrounds. It continues on,
bigger and better than ever. We
started with pictures. We
eventually upgraded to video
with no sound. In 2008 we
started video taping the jams
(with sound) for YouTube.Check
out the latest Jam pictures &
videos from the January 2009
musicians jam. We shot some
really good video at this jast
jam. Barry Barnes (formally of
the Charlie Daniels Band)
played. Gary Allen (also from the
Charlie Daniels Band) played
drums. Kenny Utterback from
Pacific Gas & Electric played
many songs. Mississippi Millie
was cool, Mike Gauthier made
his first trip to the jam. Mike has
played with Peter Frampton,
Robert Palmer, The Four Tops,
Rick Derringer & Beatlemania. I
could go on and on, describing
the musicians that come the
jam. These are quality players,
and I am happy to be a part of it.

THE PLAY IT AGAIN JAM
COLD BEER, COOL MUSIC! Except for HOT JAMS,  IT’S SMOKE FREE!
Presented by Boots Hill and Pat Adams of Windows Off The Cumberland  & Tennessee Concerts
You are cordially invited to a New Year of Nashville's longest running rock and roll jam session
The Play It Again Jam. Gary Allen, drummer from The Charlie Daniels Band & JJ Cale, returns
as host along with Pat Adams of Tennessee Concerts, the original jam sponsor. Musicians friend, Boots Hill of
Windows Off The Cumberland is presenting the jam. The venue has been renovated and has
pool tables, ice cold beer and a two tier smoking lounge out back for puffers.
Walter Jowers-guitarist-writer is the Godfather of the gig. He is a syndicated writer and member of James
Brown's house band from his  Georgia nightclub, The Third World. "Fast" Kenny Utterback-guitarist-writer-
singerfrom Pacific Gas & Electric is an irregular, as well as Andy Olsen bass man from Trailer Trash.
Guitarist Timmy Ryan has worked with Mark Lindsay of  Paul Revere and The Raiders, and has
a closet full of three cornered hats to prove it. Mike Broward and Tiger Gagan are six string guitar slingers
with Tiger being the lefty of the bunch. Barry Barnes-guitar-writer-vocals from the Shades drops in to jam on
some southern and classic rock. Gary and Barry were founding members of The Charlie Daniels Band and
appeared on the southern rock classic Fire On The Mountain. Geno Haffner tickles the ivories along with Mike
Gauthier who has worked with Rick Derringer and The Four Tops. Doc Hearl plays anything he can pick up and
Robbie and Jess, our bartenders, both play drums and congas to keep Dustin Melton, Robert Kinsall and
myself on our toes. A special treat was the set by Mississippi Millie performing Ooh Poo Pa Do and Nutbush City
Limits! If you think Ray Cooper is great on percusssion, check out our own Pat Adams, and you will continue to
think that. These are the jokes, son.
Drummers bring your stick bags! Guitarists bring a small 18 watt amp with 10" or 12" speaker.
We discourage gadgets and foot pedals for several reasons, trust me on this one.
(They get stepped on and tripped over)

Jam Directions:
Get off the couch and drive to the venue on Second Avenue , on the day specified.
Sign in at the front door and move your rig to the far side of the stage near the pool tables, AWAY FROM THE
FRONT DOOR! You will be called up by the host when it’s your turn to play. We make every effort to group like
minded players together and match genres because it’s only rock and roll, but we like it!
