Biography:
Loretta Lynn is one
of the classic
country singers.
During the '60's &
'70's she ruled the
charts, racking up
over seventy hits as
a solo artist and a
duet partner.
Lynn helped forge
the way for strong
independent women
in country music.
As her song (and
movie & book) says
Loretta Lynn is a
coal miner's
daughter.
She married
Mooney Lynn in
1948, when she was
thirteen years old.
They moved to
Nashville in 1960,
and she soon
signed with
Decca Records.
She later had a
professional
partnership with
Conway Twitty, and
they had many hit
records as a duo.
Loretta Lynn
published her
autobiography
Coal Miners
Daughter,
in the mid 1970's.
In 1980, the book
was made into a
movie starring
Sissy Spacek,
as Lynn.
