The Early Years:
Dolly Parton was born in
poverty in Sevier County in
the mountains of East
Tennessee She was  one of
twelve children. As a child she
used her ability to make up
songs and sing them as a way
to both escape and celebrate
her humble surroundings. By
the age of ten, Dolly was
performing regularly on the
Cas Walker
TV show in Knoxville. Dolly
bought a bus ticket to
Nashville soon after being the
first member of her family to
graduate from high school

Porter Wagoner:
In 1967 Dolly joined singer
Porter Wagoner's syndicated
country music TV show, and
"Miss Dolly" as she was called
became very popular with
viewer's. They also had
several hits as a duo.
She left Wagoner in 1974.

Dollywood:
In 1986 Parton
opened Dollywood,
a Smoky Mountain theme park
in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee,
near Gatlinburg

Presently:
Dolly Parton continues to
perform. She continues to
live in the Nashville  area.
I have crossed paths
with Dolly several times
in Nashville, and she
was always very nice.
