I had a chance to go see Colin Hay at the Belcourt Theater on September 25th. This was a great show.
The music in his solo show was very good, along with him being a very funny guy. He talked and sung songs about
growing up in Scotland, before his parents eventually moved to Australia. One of his funniest stories was about
playing in Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band. He spoke of playing on stage with Ringo and thinking that's f______ Ringo
Starr from The Beatles. He said Ringo would look back at him with a look like I'm f______ Ringo from The Beatles.
Actually I had front row seats and saw Colin Hay with Ringo last year at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon.
Colin Hay's set included many new songs. He did mentioned that at least one them was recorded here in Nashville,
just up the street from the Belcourt. Hay was the singer and guitarist for the 1980's band Men At Work. He finished
his set with some of the old Men At Work hits including Who Can It Be Now, Land Down Under and others.
Nashville singer/songwriter Joe Marlow from The Tips opened the show. He played many original songs, ending with
a My Girl. Check out Colin Hay's Nashville videos (below) & new CD "American Sunshine from Compass Records.
