TN veteran, wounded
in Afghanistan,
surprised with new
home
There was a surprise of a lifetime
Friday night for a double amputee
combat veteran from some of
country music's biggest stars.
Staff Sgt. Shaun Meadows thought
he was just at Fontanel to meet Big
& Rich, check out a great show and
have some fun with his family.
But that just wasn't good enough for
a guy who nearly died fighting for his
country.
Some big name country superstars
teamed up with a non-profit group
that helps wounded soldiers to give
Meadows one very special surprise.
In 2008, Meadows lost both his legs
in an IED attack while serving in
Afghanistan.
Meadows and his family came on
stage and were presented with a
very special gift - a brand new,
mortgage free home that will meet
all of his needs.
Sgt. Meadows had no idea, but
there's no doubt it made his night.
Just a way of saying thank you from
his favorite musicians for his
sacrifice.
Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and
Cowboy Troy donated 100 percent of
Friday's concert sales to Operation
Finally Home, the non-profit group
that gives wounded soldiers, like
Sgt. Meadows, and the widows of
fallen heroes new homes.
Louisiana Pacific and Goodall
Homes also pitched in to help.
Meadow's $300,000 new home will
be built on his family's land in
Lynnville, TN. Construction will start
in November and it should be built in
just six months.
